First Day of Preschool!

Today was Elijah's first day of preschool. We have been waiting a year to get into this school and were beside ourselves when he finally got in (Ezra is going on the waiting list this year!) He has 2-team teachers, Mrs. G and Mrs. C, and 11 kids in his happy little classroom. We woke up this morning and he was ready and very excited to be going to school. When we got there he had to wash his hands (all kids do upon entering class) and he said, "mama, do you know how many pumps of soap to use...2!" that was news to me, but his teacher must have taught him that on Tuesday at our conference. Next, he went straight for the tow truck that he had been talking about all week, made his rounds to the aquarium, sand scooping box, and the magnifying glasses. At this point he looks at me and says, "okay, bye bye mama!" chipper as can be. So, I kneeled down, stunned and got my hug and kiss, (shot a couple more pics) and left. He never looked back...

When we picked him up he was great! He had a blast, his teacher said he was very involved in all activities, and that was that. We went to the Living Room for a special lunch and finished our day with our last OB appointment. This little man who has blessed us beyond ALL expectations is about to become a BIG brother on Tuesday. Wow, Ezra is one lucky kid :)

I LOVE ELIJAH...the most and the most and the most! He is MY hero!!

First Dentist Appointment

Well, after feeling like a horrible mama for not taking my son to the dentist yet (the recommend going at 1 year-E. is now 3 1/2) we took him last week! He is such a trooper! The assistant came and got him, he walked back with her alone, and got x-rays with daddy. No issues!! Then I went with him for his cleaning. This kid is really the coolest. He jumps up in the chair, chats away with the lovely woman cleaning his teeth and totally conquered the dentist.

I am beyond happy to report he is cavity free so now I am off the hook about the guilt of waiting so long. The one thing we did realize is that he is SO beautiful and SO trusting that we really need to watch him because he would probably walk off with anyone who promised him a sticker and a balloon :) It was awesome, he is amazing, and life is good!

6 years and life to go...

Happy Father's Day to all you awesome dads out there!
Today we get to not only celebrate Elijah's super cool dad, but also
Ryan's and my 6th year wedding anniversary (13 years total!). So
what is our secret to a happy marriage you may ask???
I guess that depends on which one of us you ask, but definetly
patience, and that when we FIGHT we really mean it, and when we make up we really mean that too. I guess God just blessed us with each other and that
is all I can say about that! Amen.
...For life and beyond!!

My sweetest boy

So last night Elijah and I were staying the night at my dad's house-Grandpa Jake's house.
The night proceeds normally, a little play, some dinner, and some evening down time. We had
been at the house for about an hour. Elijah is halfway up the stairs, he sits down, puts his elbow on his knees and chin in his palms and says, "mama, is grandpa jake in the hos-pi-tal?'' My sister and I look at each other as we know that Elijah has not been told about grandpa. I had been waiting for him to ask in his own time. "no baby, he is not in the hospital". "Where is he?" he asks. Tracy and I both well up and my mind races with what I should say. Is he too young? Was he ready?

His whatchful eyes are studying me,  "Well baby, Grandpa Jake is in heaven with God". He pauses, thinking.
"Why is grandpa Jake in heaven with God?" my sweet 3 year old asks. "He is in heaven with God because it was his time to go. We all get to go to heaven, baby. We will see him again someday when it is our turn." I somehow say without loosing it.
"But I want to see him" says Elijah. "I misssssssss him!"
"I know baby, we miss him too!"

Hope you heard that dad, we LOVE you!

Mama's Boys

Baby Loves Disco

Hey all!
We had yet another successful Baby Loves Disco event yesterday here in San Diego. We jet up to OC this Saturday for yet another. It is fun and exhausting, but totally worth it as we know that it brings families together and allows people to experience family time in a whole new way! Yesterday we had the kids band Hullabaloo busk outside while we had lines, face painters, balloon artists, a massage therapist, a guest appearance from Spiderman, and of course good old temporary tattoos at the R-N-R booth. Hope you all can join us at one of our future events!

Forever with Us...

The coolest of the cool...my dad and Elijah's Grandpa Jake!
A man who knew who he was and walked to the beat of his own drum. He taught me to believe in who I am and follow my dreams, no matter how crazy they seem to anyone else. I am who I am today because of my dad and will honor him with my life today and always.

Summer Garden!

Here we are at the Loyko compound! We are not only cultivating fun and imagination...
we are growing lots of yummie veggies! Elijah is quite the little farmer, daddy tills the soil and made a cool wire trellis for mommy's green beans and the big bellied mama organizes and plants all the yummies! This year we have many heirloom varieties. It is quite gratifying and makes us wish we had MORE land to grow on (definitely in our future)! Elijah loves digging with his shovel and hoe and is quick to remind when it's time to work in the garden. Stay tuned for our top-o-the-hill pumpkin patch coming soon!

Hello Family and Friends!
Life seems to be happening SO quickly these days we just want to have a venue to keep you all up to date with our little man and the growing boy in the belly! We are crazy busy with all our ventures, but loving every (almost every) moment of it. We hope you find a bit of the joy we live with everyday in these entries. I am committing to keeping it up and letting you all get to know our amazing son Elijah and watch his summer of preparation in becoming a BIG brother.

Let's get started...
